A Fun Little Jingle

I was searching youtube for songs to entertain Weston when I happened upon this cheerful little diddy... make that cheerful, educational little diddy. I think I'm going to use it for FHE tonight!

By the way, Sophie's birth story along with more pictures are on the way!

Welcome to our family, sweet Sophie!

One week and an hour ago, I had just given birth to this beautiful creature. I felt great, and I can't wait to tell the birth story... it's kind of like a scene out of a movie - rather dramatic! But for now, I want to share some pictures from this past week.
These two pictures were taken about an hour after birth:
24 hours later: Here is Weston's new favorite past time: holding his little sister and giving her kisses Who can blame him? It's pretty much impossible not to love this bundle of goodness!
As for Weston, he has spent a lot of time outside playing - mostly digging in the dirt.
I love his expression here - like he's surveying a very important project. This is the funny little grin he flashed when I asked him to smile at the camera. What a silly kid. I love him! Sophie's ready to eat, which means this blog post must come to an end, but stay tuned for the birth story and many more pictures to come!!

Large, Luscious and Overdue

Well, the luscious part may not be true, but I'm trying to stay positive. :) On Friday while chatting with my dad, Jason told him that I was "very large with child indeed," which of course prompted him to request pictures. (My dad has never seen me at any stage of pregnancy.) So, here is the latest picture of me, a full 40+ weeks pregnant. I think it is sweet the way that Weston is always trying to "kiss" the baby... It's kind of a weird feeling to be "overdue." The way I see it, the baby really is NOT overdue, though, since due dates are the result of an imperfect guesstimation to begin with... but it's easy to get impatient when you've had a specific date in your head for so many months!
However, I do believe firmly in letting mother nature do her thing. The baby will come when she is ready, which is what matters most to me.
As an aside, Weston ran outside at about the same time I sat down at the computer to write this post. I thought I had better go check on him really quickly, when I found the stinker playing happily... in the buff!
Well, at least I won't get bored while I wait for labor to start!

He'll always be my baby

Even though this little man is about to become a big brother, he will always be my baby. And, as you can see from this picture, sometimes he still wants to be!I started thinking about my first-born, about how I used to wonder if it would ever be possible to love another child as much as I love him... and I thought now would be a good time to reminisce on the lovable munchkin that was once this little tiny baby:
Two and a half weeks: About 6 weeks:A little over 2 months:About 3 months:About 5 months:6 months:
Eight months (Halloween '07):Nine months (still a cute little chunk!):Sometimes ready to fight:Sometimes nothing but sweetness:My big one year old:
Discovering the joys of eating:Discovering the playground:Goofing around:Learning to walk:
Learning to dance: Discovering Disney, 9 months ago today exactly... which would have made him almost 21 months old - and precisely one pregnancy away from being a big brother... which event we are patiently awaiting at this very moment: Just the other day I snapped this precious picture of Weston sleeping... so angelic, so baby-like. He had played and played and played, which made him all sweaty. So I plopped him in the bath, like I suppose anyone would do. But the poor guy was so tired that no sooner had I picked him up out of the bath and wrapped him in a towel than he fell fast asleep.
How I love my little guy! And how excited I am for him to discover all the many joys that yet await him in life. But, no matter how big he gets, or how much our life changes (like it is about to), there is no doubt in my mind that he will ALWAYS be my baby!

Naughty Trick #782

Hide under tables or desks where mommy has no hope of maneuvering her humongous, awkward body to pry you out. Oh, and just to make it exciting, take Grandma's iPhone with you...
Fortunately, there are effective tactics for getting a child to do what you want without using physical force. Well, most times anyway!

No one like Grandma

This morning when Weston woke up I asked him if he wanted to cuddle next to mommy for a few minutes... not only because I didn't want to have to get out of bed yet, but because I love to cuddle with my little munchkin, and sometimes he's in that sweet cuddly mood first thing in the morning.
Well, when I asked him, he just shook his head, then ran out the door. When I came stumbling out the room a few moments later, this is what I saw: My mom was on her headset talking on the phone, and Weston just crawled right up into her lap where he stayed for a good while.
Sometimes there's no one like grandma!
