Ghostbusters, cuddle bugs, and Jedi

One of the things I was most excited about when I was pregnant with Sophie was the prospect of Weston having someone to play with.  Never did I imagine that they would be ghostbusters together!

As you can see, Weston really has his moves down...

Sophie doesn't have many ghostbuster moves, but she sure has got the look.  I particularly love the residue of strawberries on her face!
There was a period of time when I was so exhausted (and I guess Jason was too), that we didn't even notice the kids (usually just one or the other) crawling into bed with us in the middle of the night.  One morning, we woke up to both of them cuddled in our bed!

So cute!
During the months of morning sickness, I wasn't as vigilant about making sure the kids were properly dressed (well, you know, until we left the house of course).  One day I found them hanging out in the back yard this way, just chillin' on top of our water barrels engaged in some sort of silly conversation (which has since escaped my mind).  I particularly like Sophie's ensemble: Weston's sweat pants, a Disney princess pajama top, and heels!
I love that they are such good friends.
Lately, Weston has discovered the awesomeness that is Star Wars.  This light saber is his favorite toy, by far (at least for the time being)!
And of course if Weston is into it, so is Sophie.  She wants to be Princess Leah - not just for Halloween, but on most days.  Recently when we were visiting my brother's ward, she told the nursery leader there that her name was Princess Leah.  After being asked again, she finally conceded that her name was Sophie... Sophie Rapunzel, that is!

Who can complain?  I have my very own pair of Jedi in the house!

Sophie's Bike

Sophie got this bike at Christmas, but it was just too big. The other day she determined that it was time to ride! It's still a bit too big, but she sure had fun trying!
No worries, Weston is more than willing to give her a ride...
They now do this almost every day!

Gilcrease and Spider-Girl

Last Saturday we ventured to Gilcrease Orchards with the kidlets. Usually we don't go until October so we can get our pumpkins, but this year we decided to take a gander in August as well.Anywhere else in the country, people would think I was one strange lady for snapping this shot, but I just couldn't help myself... it was so refreshing to see green! The kids had a blast... mostly playing in the dirt.
Sophie was fascinated with everything, especially things that don't go in your mouth like sticks and rocks!
Oh, and did I mention pine cones? That seriously had to be the only pine cone in the entire place, but somehow she managed to find it. She tried to eat it too, but that didn't work out so well. :)
We found lots of beautiful, HUGE zucchini squash. I wanted to pick it all, but at $1/lb, I didn't think it would be so prudent. Weston found these little baby eggplants and thought they were the cutest things he'd ever seen.
Well, maybe the cutest thing he'd ever seen besides Sophie, who was determined to pick a melon!
Then it was off to the fruit trees...
It sure was fun picking apples. Unfortunately, they were extremely tart. They are still sitting on our counter because none of us can force ourselves to eat them, although Weston managed to eat almost a half of one. (which I thought was truly impressive!)
We were feeling *slightly* disappointed, when we drove around the last corner and beheld (hold your breath) one of the most enormous fig trees I have seen in my entire life! Jason was thrilled.
Weston was all excited to try one right off the tree - and really, isn't that the best way to eat fruit? He was so excited about it that even though I could tell he hated it, he tried to love it. He said he definitely liked it and even tried to smile! What a good attitude... it was cute.
Later that afternoon, we discovered a new superhero....
We call her Spider Girl!
If you sass her, she WILL throw her web at you!!Weston wasn't going to miss out on the action... he soon ran to get his batman cape on. Apparently he was so excited about it that he forgot the rest of his clothes.

Now Sophie is addicted. If she sees the Spider man costume, she brings it to me to put it on, and then she runs around the house throwing webs. She and Weston are quite a pair!

Batman, the fish, and our Bathing Beauty

It's amazing how many hours of fun a kid can get out of a superhero costume - or even just part of one!
Exhibit A: the Batman capeIt's a little difficult to get pictures of Weston in his Batman cape - they usually come out blurry! This one is from a different day... I guess Batman had crashed because here he is on the floor.Even Sophie gets in on the action! The entire time we were house hunting, we kept promising Weston a fish. When the day finally came, we took him to the pet store and showed him all the beautiful tropical fish. After like 20 minutes, he spotted the goldfish and went ballistic. We didn't want goldfish because they're so boring (after all, that's the whole reason we went to PetSmart instead of Walmart!), so after another 20 minutes of cajoling, he finally "decided" to get the tropical guppies instead. He named them Gootie and Guppy. Sadly, they both died within a week or so. We replaced them both of course (we actually ended up with three fish). Every time a fish would die, he spent the entire day saying "Gootie - DIE!!" or "Guppy - DIE!!" to every single person we encountered. Anyway, he loves the fish and spends hours watching them. Here are a couple of shots of Sophie in one of her cute little swimsuits. And yes, she does have more than one. Jason and I were so torn over which one to get her since they were all so dang adorable, that we ended up getting two! A little ridiculous, sure. At least they were on sale.
Who can resist a face like that?
